HPV pozitif çıkması kanser demek değildir ve panik nedeni olmamalıdır. Özellikle genç kadınlarda virüs 1-2 yıl içinde bağışıklık sistemi tarafından temizlenir. Ancak yüksek riskli tiplerde jinekolog kolposkopi ve smear testi ile rahim ağzını değerlendirir ve gerekirse erken tedavi başlatır.
